To help make sense of this idea, we needed rules. Following an extensive user study of two whole people (both grown-ups) we came up with the following formula:
2 beers at the weekend because it’s the weekend
1 beer midweek as a little treat for making it thus far
Which equates to:
3 beers a week, 4 weeks(ish) in a month and 3 months per quarter
Then we applied a formula not dissimilar to the Duckworth–Lewis method and came up with:
39 the magic number of beers per quarter and pages in this book
All that said… you can do what you want with it. Fill the book in a week, fill it with nothing but obscure West Coast APAs that begin with the letter “X” or dedicate 13 themed pages to each of the 3 songs titled “39” and finally lay to rest the question of… who is more betterer, The Cure, The Queen or The Tenacious D.
